McCoy’s Building Supply recognizes Brazoria team member for 15 years of service
BRAZORIA, Texas–Brazoria resident Eddie Gray was recognized last week for 15 years of service with McCoy's Building Supply.
The McCoy’s veteran currently works as a commercial sales support representative and also worked as an assistant manager for six years. In his current role, Gray specializes in custom orders and order deliveries.
“My favorite part of this job is dealing with the customers,” Gray says. “A lot of times someone will come in thinking that what they’re looking for is going to be a big problem, but it’s usually not a problem at McCoy’s. It’s my job to be able to find special things that our customers can’t find on their own. I love being able to solve people’s problems.”
“We have some really fine contractor customers here in Brazoria,” Gray says. “One of my customers once said to me, ‘there’s no place else that you can get this kind of hospitality.’ It really struck a chord with me. He didn’t say service; he said hospitality. I consider that a real step up. It made me proud to be working for a place like McCoy’s.”
Store manager Robert Paul says he enjoys working with a seasoned professional like Gray.
"I’ve worked with Eddie for 12 years,” Paul says. “He’s the foundation for our team. Many of our team members come to him for advice and guidance. He’s a great support for the Brazoria team, and his diligence and discipline make him a great support for our customers, too."
Long-term service is celebrated at McCoy's. Employees who rank in the 500 most-tenured positions in the company wear a sticker with their ranking on their name tags. Gray, who joined the company on Jan. 28, 1993, ranks number 191.

“I’ve really enjoyed working for the McCoy family,” Gray says. “When I started here, Emmett McCoy ran things, and now his son, Brian, is carrying on their family tradition. I appreciate their respect for and open communication with everyone at the store. The McCoy family is really down-to-earth. It’s great being able to talk to the owner of the company.”
