McCoy’s Building Supply CEO Named Lumberman of the Year
For more than 120 years, the LAT has promoted ethics, commitment, professionalism and innovation in Texas’ lumber industry.
LAT Executive Vice President, Barbara Douglas, says McCoy was a natural choice for Lumberman of the Year.
“McCoy’s is definitely a leader to the building industry in Texas,” Douglas says. “The Lumberman of the Year award is selected by all the LAT members, based on his or her service to the LAT. And Brian is known not only for his service to McCoy’s customers, but also for his civic activities.”
“We are thrilled to be part of the supply chain that provides building products for the homes of Texas families,” McCoy says. “Our dedicated employees are committed to serving our customers, and our suppliers are a huge support in the process.”
Even in today’s fiercely competitive market, McCoy's adheres to a long-standing decision to remain closed on Sundays.
“I love our ‘Always Closed Sundays’ policy,” McCoy says. “Our employees can depend on one day a week for worship and time with their families. We know we miss some business in the process, but we have many customers that shop with us precisely because we are closed on Sunday.”
This recognition is special for the McCoy family, as Brian’s father, Emmett McCoy, was recognized as LAT’s Lumberman of the Year in 1980. This is Brian’s first time to be recognized by the trade association for his leadership in the lumber industry.
Started in 1927 as a contract roofing company in Houston, Texas, McCoy's has evolved from a small, one-store operation into an expansive regional corporation, employing more than 2,000 people and operating 85 stores in five states, including Arkansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
McCoy's is a retail building supply company providing a complete array of building materials and services to its customer base of those who are "born to build." To learn more about McCoy’s, visit www.mccoys.com. For more information about LAT, visit www.lat.org.
